A Piscina da Quinta da Conceição é uma obra do Arq. Álvaro Siza Vieira e foi inaugurada em 1965, encontrando-se inserida na Quinta da Conceição, um parque público localizado na freguesia de Leça da Palmeira, concelho de Matosinhos, distrito do Porto.
Inicialmente o local era as instalações do Convento de Nossa Senhora da Conceição da Ordem de São Francisco que lá chegou em 1481; atualmente ainda é visível o antigo claustro do convento, alguns chafarizes, um portal de estilo manuelino e a capela de São Francisco.
Na década de 60, a Quinta foi alvo de importantes melhoramentos coordenados por Fernando Távora, renomado arquiteto do sec. XX, onde se destaca o pavilhão de ténis e a piscina.
Além da piscina, o espaço dispõe de vestiários e balneários e um bar/lounge.
Funciona durante a época balnear – entre junho e setembro - das 09h00 às 19h00.
The Quinta da Conceição Swimming Pool is a work by Arq. Álvaro Siza Vieira and was inaugurated in 1965, and is located in Quinta da Conceição, a public park located in the parish of Leça da Palmeira, municipality of Matosinhos, district of Porto.
Initially, the site was the premises of the Convent of Nossa Senhora da Conceição of the Order of São Francisco, which arrived there in 1481; today, the former convent cloister, some fountains, a Manueline style portal and the chapel of São Francisco are still visible.
In the 60s, the Quinta underwent important improvements coordinated by Fernando Távora, renowned architect of the sec. XX, where the tennis pavilion and the swimming pool stand out.
In addition to the pool, the space has changing rooms and changing rooms and a bar/lounge.
It is open during the bathing season – between June and September – from 9:00 am to 7:00 pm.
